Average Bench: 76.8% (296th of 1463)

Based on 101,694 user benchmarks.  Devices: BFEBFBFF000306F2, , 0F8BFBFF000306F2, 1FABFBFF000306F2 Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz

The Intel Core i7-5820K is the cheapest of three (5820K,5930K,5960X) new Haswell-E prosumer/enthusiast processors. The 5820K sports six physical cores and twelve threads which allow for enormous processing throughput. Unfortunately Intel have somewhat handicapped the 5820K by setting its base clock at just 3.3 GHz, 0.7GHz lower than the class leading 4790K. Comparing the 4790K and 5820K shows that the cheaper i7-4790K is significantly faster at both single and dual threaded workloads. The additional two cores found in the 5820K are not relevant to general computing and as such the 5820K probably makes a better server rather than consumer proposition. The Haswell-E X99 architecture also requires DDR4 RAM which is currently far more expensive than DDR3. Overall the 5820K is a very expensive option and probably best avoided by the vast majority of consumers.  [Sep '14 CPUPro]

Amazing processor. just upgraded from an AMD FX 8350. It’s paired with an MSI x99a gaming pro carbon motherboard, 16gb Geil EVO x ram, and an AMD fury x. I’ve overclocked the CPU to 4.0ghz (haven’t felt the need to go faster), with a nzxt kraken x41 and my temps at idle are around 38*C and it never goes above 55*C when gaming. When I’m just messing around in windows or on the web, I haven’t noticed a difference from my fx8350, but gaming on CPU intensive games, this chip blows the former away. (GPU intensive games I couldn’t tell a difference, thank you fury x btw). I was trying to hold out until AMD released Zen, but I pulled the trigger and bought an i7. If I could do it over again, I would.—Nov '16

Used it for many years, with a great motherboard it is still very capable of gaming and 200 web browsers.

An excellent overclocker for its price, the additional two cores will be definitely beneficial for any video rendering or load heavy tasks.

Great cpu . Good value, exellent speed and overclocking . (My oc is 4.9 Ghz on costum water cooling)

Good

This processor has server med very well and handles anything I throw it at with no issues. Easily clocks from 3.3 to 3.8 without any issues. I am watercooled however with corsair H110i.

Excellent

Great temperatures under HUGE overclock. (upwards of 25% ~4.5GHz!) Still stands strong in 2019. Cons - X99 platform, which means $$$

Excellent

Built it new around 2015. Currently running at 4.2Ghz @1.2v on air. Game temps are around 50-60 and 70 max in stress tests. I could go higher with better cooling I suppose.

Excellent

Has held out since 2015 and still demolishes anything I throw at it.
