Based on 6 user benchmarks.  Device: 178BFBFF00870F10 Model: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor

AMD’s Ryzen 5 3600 is one of five new processors based on the latest Zen 2 7nm microarchitecture. Although the 3600 is at the bottom of the 3000 line-up, it is no less innocuous to the competition. This 6-core, 12-threaded processor is expected to be priced at 199 USD and succeeds the Zen+ Ryzen 5 2600 improving upon it by 20% in terms of effective speed. In fact the 3600 base and boost clocks of 3.6 Ghz and 4.2 GHz respectively, match the previous generation hex-core Ryzen 5 2600X and therefore indicate an 11% clock for clock improvement over the previous generation. At this price point, the Ryzen 5 3600 only has to compete with Intel’s 6-core i5-9400. Whilst single and quad core speeds are comparable, AMD continues to excel at multi-core performance, with early benchmarks showing a 63% multi core advantage over the 9400. If that was not enough to tempt Intel loyalists to defect, the Ryzen 3000 processors all include coolers and although they will be launched alongside the new mainstream X570 chipset (which is PCIe 4.0 enabled), they are backwards compatible with 400 and even the 300 series motherboards. [Jun '19 CPUPro]

seeming how this has a massive bump in single core, I might actually decide to buy it, that and the backwards compatibility for my b-450 board is making the choice clear.

I am absolutely upgrading to this from my haswell 4460. It seems like a cheap b450-board is the way to go, since x570 are going to be way to expensive. Looks like an impressive singlecore performance for 200$

This CPU is on a budget where Intel has nothing to say. For the price of a i5-9400F, the R5-3600 is slithy above the i5-9600K in games, absolutely destroys it in multi-threaded usages, and comes with a cooler. 6 stars on 5 because Intel abused from being better, and deserve a backlash

AMD surpasses the 9th generation of Intel processors, that's for sure... AMD will take over the market this year and Intel will have to seriously question their quality/price ratios

Great value. Rivals the i7 8700k, for way cheaper.

So far, we're looking at roughly the average performance of an Intel Core i7-8700K at barely over half the price ($199 USD). If this holds up, AMD has a real winner on their hands and you'd have to be a fool to buy anything from Intel's overpriced product portfolio.
