Average Bench: 84.1% (102nd of 1316)

Based on 967,485 user benchmarks.  Device: 178BFBFF00870F10 Model: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor

AMD’s Ryzen 5 3600 is a 6-core, 12-threaded processor which succeeds the Ryzen 5 2600 improving upon it by 13% in terms of overclocked performance. The 3600 is in competition with Intel’s 6-core i5-9600K. AMD continues to push the multi-core performance envelope: benchmarks show that the 3600 has a 27% overclocked 64-core lead over the 9600K but that the i5-9600K leads by 14% on single to hex core workloads which translates to 10% higher EFps in most of the today’s top games (e.g. PUBG, GTAV and CSGO). Additionally, the 3600's memory controller, although significantly improved over previous Ryzen iterations, still has limited bandwidth and high latency which adversely impacts gaming. Weaknesses in memory architecture are not readily picked up by CPU benchmarks but they are apparent whilst gaming. Cheaper CPUs such as the 9400F deliver better gaming performance in nearly all of today’s popular games. At $190 USD, the 3600 offers good value for purely workstation tasks such as film production but streamers should look elsewhere. Streaming with dedicated hardware such as NVENC or a separate stream PC will nearly always result in fewer dropped frames. The masterfully hyped Ryzen 3600 may well be the best CPU for multimedia producers on a tight budget but in today's market there are faster and less expensive alternatives for gamers, streamers and general desktop users. [Jun '19 CPUPro]

Would not recomend for gaming, latency too high—Jan '21

AMD are great at selling junk. They pee in the well with fake comments, glorified cheerleaders on youtube and paid magazine reviews. My POS PC still crashes randomly. Everybody needs to call the rats out instead of letting them get away with it.—Apr '21

Actually terrible value for money as of october 2020. If you're spending 200usd on a CPU you might as well stretch it to 300 and get a 3700X which will be far more future proof as it's likely the same CPU the new consoles use and offers you two extra cores. And what's worse is that this is handly beaten by the i5-10400F on 1080p gaming which is about 20usd cheaper and doesn't get as gimped by using lower ram speeds, so really makes very little sense right now at the 200usd mark, only get it for under 150usd and cheaper if used.—Nov '20

Great for GTX 1660 ti or below. Higbly do not recommend to pair this with any RTX GPU as the 3600 will bottleneck them noticeably. For instance, an RTX 2060 super will be utilized at 90% most of the time if paired with the 3600. For video editing it performs almost the same as the 8700k and the 9700k. All in all, you have to choose the right CPU depending on your own usage, not based on benchmarks or what other people recommend. Although significantly improved over previous generations, the 3600 is still picky with RAM and refuses to run the Corsair Vengeance LPX at the rated speed of 3200Mhz, only allowing it to run at 2933 MHz after long days of tweaking and testing for stability.—Dec '19

Amazing budget option . The 7nm process really breaks boundaries for performance .

I have one and it works great. I am probably going to upgrade to a ryzen 5000 series CPU but this has served as a great place holder in my pc build while I wait to get enough money to do the full upgrades to get a ryzen 9 5900x (I need a new cooler as well). My good friend also has one and it works extremely well for him.
