Intel’s 16-core flagship Alder Lake i9-12900K processor delivers a staggering performance improvement over it's predecessor (+70% 64-core). It features a new hybrid architecture which combines eight hyper-threaded performance cores with eight efficiency cores for a total of 24 threads. Alder Lake CPUs will require a new Z690 chipset which supports DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0. At an MRSP of $590 USD, the i9-12900K is aimed at power users who demand the best of the best. That said, Intel’s 10-core 12600K matches the 12900K’s performance for the majority of consumer use cases at a 50% price discount. [Nov '21CPUPro]
USA-User is probably referring to his/her mom. Old and bad performance.
This is a 10 year old processor. It does everything as well as 10 years ago, like your granddad, that does his gardening work. Sure, there are faster machines. More efficient ones.
But it is effective. It does work tasks and browsing. Great for office work. Really good battery performance. Almost vintage style, while still being useful. And: The chip costs less than Fallout 76 original price. It lags not as much as Fallout 76, it looks cool, it just works. 520m win - everyone else lose.
4 stars, because yeah, its old. There are alternatives sure. But if you have one, it is enough for serious office work. Dont expect a gaming or calculating prodigy, expect a solid processor. [Apr '19Steviadition]
