The Intel Core i7-4770 features Intel's most recent (Haswell) architecture. As with each of the previous "Core i" generations Intel have managed to reduce power consumption and simultaneously increase processing throughput. The i7-4770 has a locked multiplier which makes overclocking it much harder than its unlocked i7-4770K sibling. Comparing the 4770 and 4770K shows that the 4770K yields 14% higher processing throughput when overclocked and also costs 14% more. The 4770K has 4 physical cores which allow it to process four streams of instructions in parallel. General desktop computing tasks such as checking email, watching videos and surfing the web rarely require more than two cores, so for the majority of users this processor is overpowered. If you plan to encode video or compile software then this is one of the fastest reasonably priced processors available. [Mar '14 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The AMD FX-4350 is a value quad-core processor. It was released in Q2 of 2013 and is a refreshed version of the Piledriver based FX-4300. Its base clock speed of 4.2 GHz boosts to 4.3 GHz in turbo mode and since it is unlocked, the FX-4350 can be overclocked to over 4.6 GHz. Its effective speed of 71 is reasonable for general computing and even gaming when coupled with an adequate GPU. Whilst the FX-4350 is cheap, it’s not so differently priced from the hexa core FX-6350 which was launched concurrently and offers slightly better multi-core performance. So if you like to game and Skype at the same time, then it may be worth considering an upgrade but since most general computing only relies on single-core performance, the upgrade is probably not worth it. [Nov '14 CPUPro]

 Frequently Asked Questions

 Best User Rated

Why does UserBenchmark have a bad reputation on reddit?
Marketers operate thousands of reddit accounts. Our benchmarks expose their spiel so they attack our reputation.
Why don’t PC brands endorse UserBenchmark?
Brands make boatloads on flagships like the 4090 and 14900KS. We help users get similar real-world performance for less money.
Why don’t youtubers promote UserBenchmark?
We don't pay youtubers, so they don't praise us. Moreover, our data obstructs youtubers who promote overpriced or inferior products.
Why does UserBenchmark have negative trustpilot reviews?
The 200+ trustpilot reviews are mostly written by virgin marketing accounts. Real users don't give a monkey's about big brands.
Why is UserBenchmark the gold standard for users?
Instead of pursuing brands for sponsorship, we've spent 13 years publishing real-world data for users.
