AMD’s Ryzen 3 2200G is a budget APU (accelerated processing unit: combined CPU and GPU) from its Raven Ridge product line. It has 4 Zen CPU cores which run at a base clock of 3.5 GHz up to a max boost clock of 3.7 GHz. It also has Radeon Vega 8 Graphics. The $105 price tag also includes a Wraith Stealth cooler. Intel’s 15% more expensive quad core i3-8100 CPU beats the 2200G in terms of single core workloads by 13%, but the effective speed of Intel’s integrated UHD 630 Graphics falls around 77% short of AMD’s RX Vega 8. The 2200G offers unsurpassed value for money for an all in one budget multimedia or ultra budget gaming PC. [Apr '18CPUPro]
The Core i5-4690 is Intel's latest and greatest locked Core-i5. This CPU will suit serious gamers that don't plan on overclocking. The 4690 replaces the 4670 and shares exactly the same specs aside from base and turbo clock bumps of 100 MHz. The 100 MHz clock bump results in barely noticeable real world performance improvements and, if anything, makes the older 4670 more attractive as suppliers reduce prices to try to clear stocks. For regular desktop use such as email, surfing, and listening to music, this CPU is overkill and there is far better value amongst lower powered and significantly cheaper CPUs but for gamers and moderate power users the 4690 is a good locked option.
