The i7-950 is a first generation Core processor which is now three generations and four years old. The 950 was included in the group test as a reference for how fast processors were back in 2009. This particular generation of processor heralded the 4 core 8 thread configuration that Intel has been kitting its top end processors with ever since. In terms of real world performance based on single core horsepower (most applications are still unable to make use of multiple cores concurrently), with a PassMark Single Thread score of 1320 the i7-950 is approximately 50% slower than its modern day equivalent, the i7 4770K[Feb '12 CPUPro]

Massive Performance gains from 1.0+ MHz Overclocking make this 8 year old CPU bench over 75%, for gaming I still see ZERO reason to upgrade, what a monster.

Excellent

10 Years and Running... Overclocked to 4.1 with a decent water cool block and still going strong.. Playing most games with High on Modern Games and Ultra in old titles.. Paired with a GTX 1060 and i think this would be the last stop for this CPU...I have managed to squeezed every drop and i think I have got my money's worth for a decade of service. I'm looking forward to pass it on to my daughter for basic computing stuff and some light games... Looking forward for another build with Intel.

 Frequently Asked Questions

 Best User Rated

Why does UserBenchmark have a bad reputation on reddit?
Marketers operate thousands of reddit accounts. Our benchmarks expose their spiel so they attack our reputation.

We don't pay youtubers, so they don't praise us. Moreover, our data obstructs youtubers who promote overpriced or inferior products.
Why does UserBenchmark have negative trustpilot reviews?
The 200+ trustpilot reviews are mostly written by virgin marketing accounts. Real users don't give a monkey's about big brands.
Why is UserBenchmark popular with users?
Instead of pursuing brands for sponsorship, we've spent 13 years publishing real-world data for users.
