The Core i7-4770K is Intel's fourth generation (codename Haswell) flagship processor in the hugely successful Core range. It's not surprising that the 4770K sets a new Real World Performance index record, besting its predecessor by just over 9%. The 4770K also tops out in the remainder of our benchmarks setting new highs of 10020 and 2164 in the PassMark and PassMark Single Thread tests which equates to roughly an 8% overall performance increase over the 3770K. With a TDP of 84 watts, power consumption has increased slightly over the 3770K. The new Core i7-4770K demonstrates around an 8% performance increase over its predecessor the 3770K but it costs 12% more. As a result, at least until prices drop, this processor represents marginally worse value for money than the 3770K. [Jun '13 CPUPro]

Excellent OC capabilities, speed even on stock clocks and overall performance. Runs a bit too hot however and needs powerful cooling solutions to cope with the high heat generated by the overvolts —Dec '14

Not that impressive compared with Sandy Bridge. Also runs 10c hotter than my previous 2500k. The support of AVX2 is kind of useless since it instantly makes the CPU hit the thermal limit.

The Core i7-4770K, specifically, is a bit faster than the -3770K it replaces—but only because of IPC improvements. It runs at the same 3.5 GHz and sports the same four cores otherwise. HD Graphics 4600 are a small step up, but not significant enough to overtake AMD’s $130 A10-5800K APU in any meaningful way.

Review  hexus.net/...

As it stands, there aren't a great number of reasons for desktop users with Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge platforms to rush out and upgrade - indeed, if you're a gamer with a discrete card, you're unlikely to see a major framerate differential between any of the three generations, and you may find less overclocking headroom.

fenomenal performance for it's price

Excellent

Manages to stack up against the competition in 2018, even without overclocking. If you're happy with 4c/8t and don't need more cores, the 7700k only offers 25-30% more raw performance, 4 generations of incremental improvements after Haswell. Even better delidded.

I've had this CPU for about 7 years now and it STILL works like a champ. Overclock this baby a bit and it stands toe-to-toe with modern CPUs.
