Average Bench: 71.8% (345th of 1426)

Based on 23,169 user benchmarks.  Device: BFEBFBFF000306E4 Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4820K CPU @ 3.70GHz

This is yet another processor from Intel that demonstrates their total market domination in the high end PC sector. The 4820K isn't really a step forward in any particular direction but rather a variant on what's already been available (performance wise) for a few years. As long as Intel is largely competing with itself they will likely continue with these sorts of incremental releases. The 4820K requires an Intel X79 chipset, which dates back to Sandy Bridge-E and lacks some of the newer features like native USB 3.0 support. An investment in the 4820K only makes sense if you already own an LGA2011 Motherboard and could be seen as good money chasing bad given that the platform is due an upgrade. That said the 4820K is a very capable multi-core processor and it sits amongst the top handful of processors in this regard. For typical consumers a Haswell i3 will offer mostly identical response times, a lower energy footprint and a significantly more competitive price. [Nov '13 CPUPro]

Easy to overclock to 4.4ghz on stock intel voltage. Easy to overclock to 4.8ghz with minor adjustments on air-cooled. Runs very cool, only a few degrees over ambient when idle and only 60C at 4.8hz OC with room to spare. Only downside is lga-2011 is expensive platform unless you need more memory and the extra SLI lanes. —Sep '14

Got a used one from eBay, set the UEFI to run it on 4.4 GHz. Works. If not the mainboards were so expensive... :D

High end CPU with budget price tag. Positive Aspects of the Intel Core i7-4820K: High Performance Optimized for multi-GPU operation Negative Aspects of the Intel Core i7-4820K: Expensive platform prices Barely faster than "Haswell" Slightly higher power consumption—Sep '14

Excellent

Best CPU I had so far inside of a notebook, very stable performance still in 2020 after 4-5 years, able to run the newest games and demanding SW.

Outstanding

Very Good CPU compared to the other i7 4th Generation. Play any Game and in UserBenchMark I've getting 95%.

Good

Still working like a champ for me. Running all new games at max performance without jitters or bugs caused by older, inefficient CPUs. Haswell architecture lasted way too long. Intel should have done more over the years
