Average Bench: 85.2% (177th of 1442)

Based on 153,026 user benchmarks.  Devices: BFEBFBFF000A0650, BFEBFBFF000A0655, BFEBFBFF000A0653 Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz

The i5-10400F is a six-core hyperthreaded CPU from Intel’s latest Comet Lake series of desktop processors. This 65 W CPU has single core and all core boost frequencies of 4.3 GHz and 4.0 GHz, respectively. Whilst the 10400F will require a new LGA1200 motherboard, such as the Z490, Intel have guaranteed that the next generation of Rocket Lake CPUs will also be compatible with this chipset. The 10400F is aimed at mid-tier gaming PC builds, and as such, ships with a cooler but without integrated graphics. Despite being officially launched in Q2 of 2020, at the time of writing, the 10400F is still not widely available. Compared to the similarly priced Ryzen 5 3600, the 10400F’s lower memory latency gives it the lead in gaming and effective speed benchmarks. Since the Ryzen architecture creates a gaming bottleneck, it is necessary to upgrade to a higher tier, Intel CPU for better gaming performance. On the other hand comparing the i5-10400F and the i3-10100 shows that the 10100 offers comparable gaming performance for 22% less money whilst also including integrated graphics. [Jun '20 CPUPro]

I have been using this CPU for a year and have never faced any major issue yet I have paired it with a GIGABYTE GTX 1660 SUPER which works great I GOW my fps averages around 100 at 1080p original graphics I shot you must go with it if it fits into your budget

Intel is giving great value these days. A i5 comes this close to a ryzen 7? AMD really needs to up it's game. —Mar '21

The successor to the last gen i5-9400F, this CPU offer similar amount of cores albeit has 6 more thread compared to i5-9400F. This CPU, asides from multithreaded tasks such as heavy multitasking or content creation offer no difference compared to i5-9400F in day-to-day and gaming basis. Also, this CPU, without iGPU costs less than i5-10400 and those money saved can be used to buy something better such as e.g. better GPU, SSD, higher quality case fans, or if you love to stay at home, a stack of pizza and large bottle of cokes to keep a day running during a long gaming session.

Comment  cpu.userbenchmark.com/...

Comparison between i5-10400F and i5-9400F shows no obvious difference in single to quad core benchmark but thanks to 6 additional threads manages to defeat i5-9400F in multi core benchmark.
