The 3930K has an outstanding multi-core performance profile, almost as good as you can buy at any budget, which considering its relatively reasonable price tag really make it stand out from the crowd. The reason for the extraordinary multi-core benchmark scores is down to the 3930K's six cores. Having six cores effectively results in a 50% lead over quad core cpus and a 200% percent lead over dual core cpu's. Typical desktop users rarely use more than two cores simultaneously thus rendering the additional four cores largely redundant for consumer use. In terms of regular use this CPU will offer virtually no better real world performance than the leaders in my Desktop CPU Group Test. For server orientated workloads the 3930K offers both outstanding performance and superb value for money. [Jun '13 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The Intel i7-4930K has six cores rather the standard four. The additional two cores improve multi-core throughput by 50% but leave single and dual-core speeds unchanged. Comparing the 4930K to the 3930K, its predecessor, shows that little has changed in terms of performance. At peak performance when both processors are overclocked the 4930K leads by around 7%. As well superb multi-core performance, both processors also have very strong single and dual core performance. The main downside to the 4930K is the fact that it still runs on the same FCLGA2011 platform as its predecessor, as a result purchasing it would effectively mean buying into a technology that is over three years old. In most cases, it would probably make sense to wait for a Haswell based hexacore. [Mar '14 CPUPro]

 Frequently Asked Questions

 Best User Rated

Why does UserBenchmark have a bad reputation on reddit?
Marketers operate thousands of reddit accounts. Our benchmarks expose their spiel so they attack our reputation.
Why don’t PC brands endorse UserBenchmark?
Brands make boatloads on flagships like the 4090 and 14900KS. We help users get similar real-world performance for less money.
Why don’t youtubers promote UserBenchmark?
We don't pay youtubers, so they don't praise us. Moreover, our data obstructs youtubers who promote overpriced or inferior products.
Why does UserBenchmark have negative trustpilot reviews?
The 200+ trustpilot reviews are mostly written by virgin marketing accounts. Real users don't give a monkey's about big brands.
Why is UserBenchmark popular with users?
Instead of pursuing brands for sponsorship, we've spent 13 years publishing real-world data for users.
