The Core i5-4690 is Intel's latest and greatest locked Core-i5. This CPU will suit serious gamers that don't plan on overclocking. The 4690 replaces the 4670 and shares exactly the same specs aside from base and turbo clock bumps of 100 MHz. The 100 MHz clock bump results in barely noticeable real world performance improvements and, if anything, makes the older 4670 more attractive as suppliers reduce prices to try to clear stocks. For regular desktop use such as email, surfing, and listening to music, this CPU is overkill and there is far better value amongst lower powered and significantly cheaper CPUs but for gamers and moderate power users the 4690 is a good locked option. This CPU is still very capable for its age. It is a four core-four thread CPU that works very well for productivity. It even can edit videos and live stream with a background CPU of about 40%. I have it set up in an old church computer paired with 16GB of ram and an SSD used for live streaming church services and it surprisingly performs very well when streaming with OBS Studio. If you have an older prebuilt with this CPU, it is still very well capable. [May '23AsianPCGeek]
