The Intel Core i5-4460 is a slightly upgraded version of Intel's 2013 Haswell i5-4440. Comparing the i5-4460 and i5-4440 shows that the only change is an increase in both base and turbo frequencies from 3.4 to 3.5 GHz. In terms of effective speed the 4460 is exactly on a par with the average of the top ten user rated CPUs, not a bad result for an i5. Thanks to its four cores the 4460 is can easily deal with the vast majority of desktop computing (email, web browsing, word processing etc.). In fact this model is probably overpowered for the majority of users. Most users wont require the multi-core capabilities that the 4460 offers and will do better to choose a lower powered and cheaper CPU. [Jun '14 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The Intel Core i7-4770 features Intel's most recent (Haswell) architecture. As with each of the previous "Core i" generations Intel have managed to reduce power consumption and simultaneously increase processing throughput. The i7-4770 has a locked multiplier which makes overclocking it much harder than its unlocked i7-4770K sibling. Comparing the 4770 and 4770K shows that the 4770K yields 14% higher processing throughput when overclocked and also costs 14% more. The 4770K has 4 physical cores which allow it to process four streams of instructions in parallel. General desktop computing tasks such as checking email, watching videos and surfing the web rarely require more than two cores, so for the majority of users this processor is overpowered. If you plan to encode video or compile software then this is one of the fastest reasonably priced processors available. [Mar '14 CPUPro]

 Frequently Asked Questions

 Best User Rated

Why does UserBenchmark have a bad reputation on reddit?
Marketers operate thousands of reddit accounts. Our benchmarks expose their spiel so they attack our reputation.
Why don’t PC brands endorse UserBenchmark?
Brands make boatloads on flagships like the 4090 and 14900KS. We help users get similar real-world performance for less money.
Why don’t youtubers promote UserBenchmark?
We don't pay youtubers, so they don't praise us. Moreover, our data obstructs youtubers who promote overpriced or inferior products.
Why does UserBenchmark have negative trustpilot reviews?
The 200+ trustpilot reviews are mostly written by virgin marketing accounts. Real users don't give a monkey's about big brands.
Why is UserBenchmark popular with users?
Instead of pursuing brands for sponsorship, we've spent 13 years publishing real-world data for users.
