The Intel G3258 is the first budget Pentium processor to feature an unlocked multiplier. This enables a comfortable overclock to 4.3 GHz using just the stock heat sink and fan. At 4.3 GHz, in terms of single and dual core performance, the G3258 challenges a fully overclocked i7-4790K, the fastest CPU I have seen to date! These results are stunning considering that the G3258 is retailing for around one fifth as much as an i7-4790K. The G3258's Achilles heel is its poor multi-core performance which is over 50% weaker than the group leaders. For the vast majority of users, assuming an overclock of 4.3 GHz, the G3258 is the best value processor on the market by miles. On the other hand, users that encode multi-media or run SLI/Crossfire setups should look elsewhere. [Jul '14 CPUPro]

If you can overclock it, this is one of the best CPUs you can buy. Single-thread performance is still king.—Jan '15

4.4 Stable with Tower Cooler at less then 55C at full load. Powerful bang for the buck.—Mar '15

AMAZING budget processor. This thing can handle massive overclocks (at least the older chips) I have one of these in my rig, I got it overclocked to 4.0 GHz at 1.14 Vcore, amazing chip for the value, I would recommend it.—Nov '15

You can overclock it to oblivion and it will handle it without problems, but what is that all overclocking good for if it only has 2 cores and no HT? Even a 2nd gen i5 will do a better job at games that require 4 cores. Bad choice for gaming, even on a budget, there are better things out there, put your money elsewhere, unless all you will do is casual internet browsing and playing Xbox 360 and PS3 era games.

4.6Ghz with a case which is 20years old. Doesn't even have a Fan in front, only one really small behind the case which barely works. And still manage 4.6Ghz with 75-80C and i average it at 4.4 with 50-55C. There isn't any other CPU that can perform that well with literaly zero costs. ----- You can check my Benchmark at 4.6Ghz and my build in my profile if you are interested.
