The Core i7-6700K is Intel's latest "Skylake" flagship processor. It replaces the hugely successful i7-4790K and takes the crown as the fastest mainstream consumer CPU available. Comparing performance and specs between the 4790K and 6700K shows that the configuration is largely unchanged (same base clocks, cores, threads) but the improved manufacturing process (14nm) brings a small reduction in TDP and a performance improvement of 8%; almost exactly the same jump as between the Ivy Bridge 3770K and Haswell 4770K. Owners of any unlocked-K Intel CPU from Sandy Bridge or onwards still have no real reason to upgrade as the performance improvements are largely academic but the i7-6700K will be the CPU of choice for the vast majority of top end PC builds in 2015. [Aug '15 CPUPro]

good OC (4.6 stable, 4.7 with a bit of overvolt) but reasonably cool temperatures. great CPU that resemble the glorious i5-2500K.

Not Suitable for MS PUBLISHERS for heavy Lots of drawings lines like Groups and ungroup lines like 20 to 50 x lines draws one cartoon picture like Snowflakes x 8 group x 20 to 50 lines each, Too much problem 14 Threads and 12 Cores shown. It will stuck program running as not responsed for long time if you copy 8 x heavy cartoon pic to 2nd window pub file. Recommend need to have min 12 cores CPU and 23 Threads able to working better, for high graphic designers or CAD drawings projects. I have to buy new X Motherboard series 2066 or Threadripper 14 cores. I have to warn high graphic designers who have heavy lots of graphic designer as large banners with cartoons not to buy 4 cores CPU or cheap laptops IT Won't work. Must go to the computer shop get the proper PC and Proper Graphic cards.

great chip never had a problem

Terrible

Relatively good CPU, but not much of an improvement since Ivy Bridge. Its successor i7 7700K isn't a big improvement either. It's too expensive for the performance it offers, having in mind that previous i7 4790K had 200 MHz higher factory clocks and equally priced Ryzen 7 1700 beats it in most applications.

Best thermal architecture ever. Don't get a horrible, overheating FX, when you can spend the extra money to get a CPU that will get the job done and not turn your room into a sauna

Great processor, very stable, easily overclocked, and improved performance over my AMD-FX 8320 rig

Outstanding

It's very good and I keep it OC at 4.5 GHz with liquid cooling. Works very well for rendering videos and it is very effective at handling massive loads.

Terrible

wouldn't even boot system

Excellent

Easy to overclock to get a bettter performance out of it, thus making upgrading it not really worth it at this time.
