The G3430 is a 2013 Haswell based CPU and is part of Intel's value range of Pentium processors. The Pentium-G range have very strong single and dual core performance but lag the group leaders in terms of multi-core processing (MCP). MCP is important for tasks such as audio/video encoding and software development. For regular PC use such as surfing the web, watching movies and playing the vast majority of games, MCP is not required. The G3430 currently retails for a quarter as much as a 4770K but has an effective speed of 79.1 which is just 6% lower than the average of the current group leaders. The majority of users will notice no difference even by paying five times more for a top end processor. The G3430 is brilliant value but its sibling, the G3420, is cheaper and even better value for money.  [Mar '14 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The Intel Celeron G1840 is a budget dual-core processor for desktops. Released in Q2 of 2014, this Haswell based CPU is 10% faster than its Ivy Bridge Celeron predecessors such as the G1630. The G1840 is very similar to the Celeron G1850 and G1830 which were also launched in the first half of 2014, which begs the question from Intel: Why? With its base clock speed of 2.8 GHz, the G1840 scores an average effective speed of 73 which is ample for basic processing needs. The G1840 has a TDP of just 53 Watts, so it's a low power, low heat and therefore low cost processor. Coupled with an SSD and a decent graphics card the G1840 will give a pretty good user experience, but the 100 MHz faster and similarly priced G1850 is a better option. [Nov '14 CPUPro]
