Based on 30,840 user benchmarks.  Devices: 178BFBFF00100F43, 178BFBFF00100F42 Model: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor

The AMD Phenom II X4 955 is a quad-core processor based on the K10 micro-architecture. When it launched in Q2 of 2009, it was AMD’s fastest CPU. Given its base clock of 3.2 GHz, with appropriate cooling, this unlocked Black Edition chip can be overclocked to speeds in excess of 4 GHz. The 955’s effective speed of 63 isn’t impressive by today’s standards, but when coupled with a decent graphics card, it won't cause major bottlenecks for most games. The 955 was pitched against the high-end of Intel’s Core 2 quads, and now costs a fraction of its original list price as one would expect, however there are better alternatives on the market now. [Dec '14 CPUPro]

Unbeatable multi-core value with AMD Phenom™ II processors...

Used for gaming until 2019, new games at 30fps, (Rise of the Tomb Raider), high to ultra settings. Will not play a handful of games due to no support for Phenom series. Beyond Two Souls, Assassins Creed Origins, Far Cry 5, Little Nightmares would not play on Phenom chipset. Upgraded for now to an i7 2000k setup. Now running 60fps on ROTTR and those games work.

Very good for it's age. And even if it's a 3.2 GHz CPU, it's easily overclockable to 3.7 GHz without changing the voltage. (Still there are lots of better choices today, so don't buy it. Go for the fx line if you want more power for less price in the AM3 socket erea. But if you are open then go for Ryzen or the 5-7 gen intel CPU-s.)
