The Core i7-6700K is Intel's latest "Skylake" flagship processor. It replaces the hugely successful i7-4790K and takes the crown as the fastest mainstream consumer CPU available. Comparing performance and specs between the 4790K and 6700K shows that the configuration is largely unchanged (same base clocks, cores, threads) but the improved manufacturing process (14nm) brings a small reduction in TDP and a performance improvement of 8%; almost exactly the same jump as between the Ivy Bridge 3770K and Haswell 4770K. Owners of any unlocked-K Intel CPU from Sandy Bridge or onwards still have no real reason to upgrade as the performance improvements are largely academic but the i7-6700K will be the CPU of choice for the vast majority of top end PC builds in 2015. [Aug '15 CPUPro]

First time to build a system for me. It was easy. Small problem with the graphics card, but later realized I hadn't connected the power cables well enough. Now everything runs like a breeze. Lightning fast, and havn't even overclocked yet!

Poor

hugely overpriced not much improvement over previous generation so why upgrade your system when older one can do the same task in almost as efficiently as this?

Good

Awesome four core performance even though mine doesn't overclock very high. It still performs really well in all recent titles.

Excellent

Relatively good CPU, but not much of an improvement since Ivy Bridge. Its successor i7 7700K isn't a big improvement either. It's too expensive for the performance it offers, having in mind that previous i7 4790K had 200 MHz higher factory clocks and equally priced Ryzen 7 1700 beats it in most applications.

Very solid CPU with good overclocking potential.

Outstanding

Best thermal architecture ever. Don't get a horrible, overheating FX, when you can spend the extra money to get a CPU that will get the job done and not turn your room into a sauna

Good

I Love mine and I hope it will last as long as my 2600k and 3930k has.

Very good

Even without any overclock, it has a base speed of 4 GHz and a boost speed of 4.2 GHz. Its hyperthreading also gives it pretty good multithreaded performance, and being a K series CPU, it can be overclocked

Very good

Very fast and good processor. A little pricey and not necessary for people strictly interested in gaming, but the best consumer level processor on the market.

Outstanding

If you can get it cheaper than 7700k then only go for it..

Great processor, very stable, easily overclocked, and improved performance over my AMD-FX 8320 rig

1 beast of a 4core was updated till new releases of 6cores :(

Outstanding

It's very good and I keep it OC at 4.5 GHz with liquid cooling. Works very well for rendering videos and it is very effective at handling massive loads.

I still love this chip because it's got the best gaming performance
