The Intel Core i5-4670K is the latest middle tier desktop processor from the fourth generation of Intel's Core range codenamed "Haswell". In terms of raw performance this processor slightly bests its predecessor the 3570K achieving approximately 10% higher server benchmark scores. In terms of real world performance the single core improvements are more relevant as more than two cores are rarely used for most typical consumer tasks and these have also improved by around 10% over the 3570K. It's not all good news though as the price increase of 14% more than offsets the performance improvements. This processor currently represents approximately the same value for money as its predecessor, the i5-3570K. [Jun '13 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge processor is one of Intel's best performers to date. In terms of real world performance this processor offers far more than most users are likely to ever need. Scoring 2012 points on the PassMark Single Thread benchmark, the 3570K is within a few percent of the fastest processors currently available and at 77 watts TDP it's no energy hog either. The server orientated GeekBench and PassMark scores of 13920 and 7144 put the 3570K at just over the 50% marker in terms of total processing capacity compared to the other processors in the group test. For server based workloads more performance is available from the Core i7 range of processors but for typical consumer use this processor is already far more powerful than it needs to be. [May '13 CPUPro]
