Based on 28,054 user benchmarks.  Device: BFEBFBFF000906EC Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz

Intel’s new consumer flagship CPU for 2018 is the i9-9900K, an 8 core, 16 thread, unlocked 9th generation Intel core desktop processor. It is based on the third round of optimization of Intel’s 14nm Coffee Lake architecture, which in this iteration, yields more cores. This is a retort to AMD’s 8 core 16 thread Ryzen 7 processors that launched in Q2 2018, to fill the gap before Intel releases it’s 10nm Cannon Lake based CPUs in, perhaps, late 2019. In direct proportion to the increased number of cores, average multi-core benchmarks are around 33% higher on the 8 core 9900K than the previous generation 6 core 8700K. The i9-9900K has a base frequency of 3.6 GHz, ramping up to an all-core turbo boost frequency of 4.7 GHz and a single-core turbo boost speed of 5.0 GHz (the highest frequency achieved yet from this class of Intel CPU). It features 16 MB of cache, a 95W TDP and Intel UHD graphics 630. The 9900K is compatible with the new Z390 chipset from Intel, and subject to a BIOS update, is also compatible with the Z370 chipset. This premium CPU is expected to retail at $500, which compares to around $300 for the 8 core, 16 thread Ryzen 7 2700X. Although the 9900K has around a 16% effective speed advantage over the 2700X, the Ryzen 2700X offers better value for money for most users. [Oct '18 CPUPro]

The i9-9900k is a great pick if you want the best of the best in terms of Intel's consumer CPU lineup. Although it might be overpriced, if you can afford it, it might be worth your consideration.

Best for common user for high end cpu

No doubt it is a good processor with extra overheat on overclocking to the range above 5.0 Ghz on all 8 cores. I would recommend to buy 8700k or 8086k which give higher quad core performance w.r.t this cpu as most pcs can only use upto 4 cores in 99% of the applications. Hence 8086k 8700k 9900k

The REAL TDP is 200W, and it doesn't appear the rams ussed in the benchmark. I considder this quite inacurate. Also, the actual price is above 560€ and turbo frequency is onle one cored. Please, consider saying the truth.

Again with that terrible pricing, really Intel?

Not worth the high premium. Get a 9700K or a 2700X instead.

Double the price of the 2700x for the same 8c/16t configuration but with each core performing ~20% better. Makes no sense for the average mid-high end user (go for a 9700k, 8700k or 2700x). Anyway, if I had to buy the BEST gaming PC possible, I would take the 9900k.

Runs far too hot even with custom water cooling Has to be de lidded or its unusable If Intel fixes the heat issue with smaller fabs then great until then I sent my 4 back

It is way overpriced and you would be better off getting a 9700.

Worst Value ever! Listed as 430€ but in real life it's 999 US$ right now!

Terrible

full potential is only unlocked when you disable the 95w tdp and let it consume massive amounts of power while running very hot. Unless you have a high quality board for this chip, the advantages over the ryzen 7 2700x are very slight and not worth the price gap.
