14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh processor...

The i-5 14600k (6P+8E/20T) is a gaming/workstation powerhouse CPU. Intel selectively binned their elite 13th series Raptor Lake chipsets and saved their best chips for these 14th gen. Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs. In factory-clocked models of the box. The overall thermals are improved on the 14th gen as power consumption consistently averaged anywhere from 17w to 80+w (!!) lower power use during high performance loads, which can result in much higher overclocks compared to previous 12th and 13th gen Intel offerings. As a final nail in the coffin, the 14600k can theoretically be overclocked higher than the 13600k due to the higher quality silicon on 14th gen. chips resulting in massive performance-to-value consumer gains across the board. The 14600K is currently priced lower than the 13600k, so this is a no-brainer upgrade for the most bang-for-your-buck CPU upgrade this generation.—Mar '24

Amazing for the price. There's no point going the AMD route nowadays as Intel offers more compatibility (DDR4) and much better price to performance. Not sure why anyone would spend more for a worse processor.—Nov '23

It more affordable and still does a really good job for gaming

Excellent value CPU, great for gaming, does everything quick fast and in a hurry. Decent headroom as well, mine matches the average bench of i7-14700k on this site (130%) with only a very minor overclock. Even the i9-14900k only averages 131%. It's hard for me to understand why users buy those two way-overpriced CPUs in lieu of this beast. I haven't even tried using higher OC settings--there's absolutely no need at this point in time. Perhaps in 5 years or so I'll revisit that statement. All things considered, the 14600k earns a strong 'recommend' after a full year of use.
