If there is any chance whatsoever that you may decide to overclock your CPU then it makes a lot more sense to go for the 2600K "K" version which, thanks to its unlocked clock multiplier, is a lot easier to overclock. For the few extra pounds it costs, I would recommend taking the K version just on the off chance because there are easily 10%+ performance gains to be had. Otherwise this is still a superb processor and still holds its own against the i7-4770 which is its two generations newer replacement. [Feb '12 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The Intel Core i3-4340 is a budget dual-core four threaded 4th generation Haswell processor released in Q3 2013. At the time of release it was the top end Haswell Core i3 chip – offering great value for money, performance and power efficiency. It scores a strong effective speed of 89% with its base clock of 3.6 GHz which means that users will experience smooth and fast performance with the majority of desktop applications. Its two cores and four virtual cores are adequate for most games. The i3-4340 features Intel HD Graphics 4600 which are probably okay for playing some older games in 720p and are comparable AMD integrated graphics (for example, on the AMD A10-5800k) when it comes to 3D gaming. But serious gamers will need to have enough money left over after purchasing the i3-4340 to spend on a stand alone GPU. [Nov '14 CPUPro]
