MORE DETAILS

The new i9-9980XE is pretty much a rebrand of the 7980XE. Comparing the 7980XE to its twin, the 9980XE shows a 5% performance bump. Not so much considering you will have to pay another 2,000 $. With 18 cores and 36 threads, this thing seems identical. The only thing they changed is they went from 2.60 GHz base clock to 3.00 GHz. The thing is, the turbo clock is almost the same. In fact, using Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 Frequency it's just a 100 MHz difference. So is the 9980XE actually a very similar but different CPU, or is it a slightly overclocked i9-7980XE? Apparently, the base clock is the only thing that's changed. But it's probably just a i9-7980XE but overclocked out of the factory. We will have to see as more information comes out about this ''rebrand'' of the 7980XE. [Jul '19 CrylicArk]
