I have two of these E5-1680 v2 processors. One is paired with a Rampage IV Extreme and the other is paired with the Asus x79-Deluxe. One will comfortably overclock to 4.7ghz and the other one does 4.5ghz.... considering the VCore is less than 1.4v and it can pass stress tests. These are great processors but don't expect to hit breakneck speeds with the CPU unless you win the Silicon Lottery. These are excellent if you want to hold on to your x79 motherboard for a little bit longer.

I still have mine running at 4.7ghz.

With ~4920MHZ it has the same single core performance than a Ryzen 3700X and is marginal faster than A Ryzen 2700X. It has 5041 multiscore points( CPUz) to ~5400 Core i9 9900K with 4919MHZ wich is quite a very high overloking which needs a corevoltage ~1,5Volt to be full stable.

Best CPU for X79. When it's clocked at 4.5GHz, performance is similar to Ryzen 7 2700X. It has 25MB of L3 cache and it's the only unlocked 8 core CPU Intel has released with this huge amount of cache. It's like having 2x i7-3770Ks.

I have been using this beast for a long time. Overclocked at 4.5ghz this is still an excellent cpu today!

8 cores for x79, and OCs too.

Great modern performance on a very old chip. Lots of threads for under 200 usd on ebay

Benches between 1700x and 2700x, gives current chips a good run when clocked (stable) at 4.7 under a H80 AIO water loop. Definitely not ready to retire with this performance.

1800x performance this CPU was ahead of its time for sure
