The Intel G4560 is one of the first Pentium processors to feature Hyper-threading. This means that although the G4560 only has two physical processing cores, it is able to process four threads in parallel by sharing resources between the physical cores. This typically results in a 50% performance improvement over two physical cores alone. Comparing performance between the lowest spec Kaby Lake i3 7100 and the Pentium G4560 shows that in terms of both performance and specs, very little separates them (even virtualization technology VT-d is present on the Pentium). The Pentium does lack AVX 2.0 (Advanced Vector Instructions) and it trails the i3 7100 by 400 MHz (10%) but there is no longer a clear divide between Pentiums and Core i3s. Intel have achieved an almost continuous distribution of performance levels for each price point from the cheapest Pentium to the top end i7-7700K[Jan '17 CPUPro]

MORE DETAILS

The Intel Core i7-2630QM is a Sandy Bridge (2011) mobile CPU. Although the 2630QM has a base clock of just 2.0 GHz it's able to boost this to a maximum of 2.9 GHz when under load. The ability to boost allows the 2630QM to keeps its power draw to a minimum whilst the CPU is idle. The 2630QM follows the typical i7 pattern of four physical cores and eight hyperthreads and this model has a modest TDP of just 45 Watts. This configuration allows the 2630QM to deal equally well with both single and multi-core workloads. The overall effective speed for the 2630QM is 61.7 which is 55% below the current group leaders but still sufficient for general computing tasks such as email, browsing and light spreadsheet work. [Oct '14 CPUPro]
