The Intel G4560 is one of the first Pentium processors to feature Hyper-threading. This means that although the G4560 only has two physical processing cores, it is able to process four threads in parallel by sharing resources between the physical cores. This typically results in a 50% performance improvement over two physical cores alone. Comparing performance between the lowest spec Kaby Lake i3 7100 and the Pentium G4560 shows that in terms of both performance and specs, very little separates them (even virtualization technology VT-d is present on the Pentium). The Pentium does lack AVX 2.0 (Advanced Vector Instructions) and it trails the i3 7100 by 400 MHz (10%) but there is no longer a clear divide between Pentiums and Core i3s. Intel have achieved an almost continuous distribution of performance levels for each price point from the cheapest Pentium to the top end i7-7700K[Jan '17 CPUPro]

The Intel Celeron G1840 is a budget dual-core processor for desktops. Released in Q2 of 2014, this Haswell based CPU is 10% faster than its Ivy Bridge Celeron predecessors such as the G1630. The G1840 is very similar to the Celeron G1850 and G1830 which were also launched in the first half of 2014, which begs the question from Intel: Why? With its base clock speed of 2.8 GHz, the G1840 scores an average effective speed of 73 which is ample for basic processing needs. The G1840 has a TDP of just 53 Watts, so it's a low power, low heat and therefore low cost processor. Coupled with an SSD and a decent graphics card the G1840 will give a pretty good user experience, but the 100 MHz faster and similarly priced G1850 is a better option. [Nov '14 CPUPro]
