Average Bench: 71% (380th of 1442)

Based on 66,470 user benchmarks.  Device: 178BFBFF00800F11 Models: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor, AMD Ryzen: ZD3406BAM88F4_38/34_Y

The AMD Ryzen 7 1700X isn't due for release until next week but two of our users have already submitted benchmarks. Comparing the quad and single core scores from our samples shows a relative 4.3% boost on the single core score so it’s possible that turbo wasn’t fully engaged (12% turbo boost expected). These preliminary results are seriously impressive as they put Zen’s IPC between 0% and 9% below Intel’s Kaby Lake. Even in the worst case scenario these results are still impressive. Comparing Intel’s $1,000 6900K and the 1700X shows that AMD delivers comparable performance for half the price! A shake-up of the CPU market will unfold as Zen rolls out. If Ryzen CPUs can overclock to 4.6+ GHz they will likely dominate the entire market putting a very welcome end to the monotonous tick-tock of recent years. [Feb '17 CPUPro]

Good average bench

edged out over the 4590 turboing to 3.5ghz in floating point math by 3%. IPC is rock solid, and their version of SMT rivals intel's hyper-threading. The real battle between AMD and Intel is going to take place on the front of core count, pricing, clock speeds, and if the Athlon x2 days are any indication, perhaps even some corporate sabotage.—Feb '17

Normal people dont post comments or "reviews", why would they? Only company plebs trying to sell sh** do that. Took me a few stings to figure it out. Gotta give the AMD "fanboys" 10/10 for hard work, they are all over it - HOOYA

Still decent performance as of February 2020. It's okay for games, although newer AMD and Intel CPU's are much greater. 8 cores are nice to have, I guess you could spit them into 4 VM's to host smaller game servers, or host 1-2 bigger game servers (such as Minecraft).

Review  www.amd.com/...

My 1080 sea hawk is bottlenecked even at stable overclock Way overrated for NAS systems.. except for thunderbolt limitation. Cat6 Cat7 maybe better 4k editing smooth, 5.9k editing surprisingly handled. Works best with fastest ram you can get and will push you ahead of even 2nd gen chips Best of ryzen 1st gen, great for gamers who need a work station even in 2020 as a budget build. 1600x same score except slight faster 4 core. the 8 cores makes rendering 20 minute 4k projects down to an hour with lots of graphics and transitions. I would reccomend 1st and 2nd gen for any budget built. Make sure to overclock as single core is the weak point

Poor quality silicone that doesn't overclock well, even crashes using XFR with a decent cooler. Cheaper R5 1600 beats it in some areas where this should excel (at least when I benched it). Gaming performance worst than 1600 due to lower OC capability. Elderly i5 4670K is superior for gaming.

Amazing CPU. Got on sale for $130, and the performance is unspeakable. In cinebench, it rips up the applications with ease. For such a good value, you really can't go wrong, especially if AMD keeps supporting the AM4 socket in the future. Competition!

This CPU is a processing beast. Base clock is 3.5Ghz but I easily and comfortably overclocked mine to 4.0Ghz with only 1.375V and a better than average air cooler. Very stable workhorse at that speed and the benefits were substantial.

It's a beast. First gen, but doesn't have any issues at all. Expect to be using it for the next 5 years easily.

1700X was the best option for me as it has dramatically improved sigle-thread performance (comparing to my previous CPU) that reduces the latency as well as exciting multi-thread performance I need in my everyday work. Since I do not want to mess with overclocking at home, XFR is a good option that is worth paying a bit more. Again, it helps to reduce latency and to speed up system reaction (provided that you have a good NVME SSD). Now there are some better options like 2700X or even 3400G (3700X is a way another CPU, just its name has these "700X"), but it is still a way affordable than intel solutions and unlike them has a possibility for later upgrades.

RIGHT so this average benchmark is NOT correct. The people that are getting the 80 percents have not installed the bios updates that allow the chip to go to 3.8 not 3.4 GHz (or are just very unlucky) . At 3.8 this chip will quite easily get 95 to 98 percent and will happily beat my mates overclocked i7-6700k at 4.6 GHz on 3D mark.
