Average Bench: 60.8% (568th of 1442)

Based on 313,196 user benchmarks.  Devices: 178BFBFF00600F20, Model: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor

In terms of raw single-core performance the flagship AMD FX-8350 is lagging behind intel's processor line-up by over two generations. The PassMark Single Thread scores for the i5-2500K vs the FX-8350 are 1863 to 1520 which shows that in terms of raw per-core processing the FX-8350 is lagging the two year old i5 by 23%. Where the AMD FX makes up is on multi-core performance, with a score of 9156 vs 6745, the AMD leads the Intel 2500K by 36% making it the far more capable multi-threaded server orientated performer. The 8350 is also cheaper but significantly more power hungry which counts strongly against it as a server proposition. The FX-8350 could be a good fit for specific server use cases but for general consumer use, which is single and dual core intensive, Intel's two year old i5-2500K delivers better performance. [May '13 CPUPro]

Above average average bench

I love it...for the price. Octacore processing that pushes multicore functionality to a hardcore intel quad core at a better price. If the motherboards were cheaper, I would go intel sooner. Although their processors at the same functionality and power are around the same price, the competing mobos are more expensive. A sabertooth and flagship cpu combo at 400 dollars, you can't beat that price per performance. Intel is the overall winner, but on a budget, this CPU is not a bad replacement—Sep '14

Purchased based on what I could afford, so I'm not going to whine about what benchmark scores I get, I bought CPU for $130, Gigabyte MB for 130, Intel was going to have to be another 100 or more, ...just wasnt going to pay that much. Plus, Intel has habit of changing/dumping socket standards, AMD keeps theirs, so I look forward to dropping new CPU in same board in the future.....I've got too many other things I need to spend money on...this is fine.—Mar '15

Still (one of) the best bang for buck options when faced with the new motherboard + CPU upgrade choice works out 30% cheaper than buying equivalent or better Intel option and you'll probably have a longer upgrade cycle. Runs stable with a 400mhz, 10% overclock, needs a proper cooler but so do Intel.—Dec '14

This CPU is HIGHKEY slept on. Sure it's old and the FX series were notably bad for heat problems, but if you spend more than $10 on a CPU cooler, you'll honestly be fine! These go great in modern budget gaming PCs, heck mine outperforms a couple ryzens when overclocked. This thing only gets hate because of the clowning neckbeards in the PC gaming community who drop $2k on new builds yearly

The FX 8-Core Black gives the i5 3570K a run for its money on multi-threaded workstation loads. There is, however, no clear winner because the FX 8-Core has weaker single threaded and therefore real world consumer performance and is also less energy efficiency. Overall this is a refreshingly strong contender from AMD and holds its own in the upper value segment of the server orientated CPU market.

Not a great CPU, but also not a bad CPU. This is a below-average gaming CPU and a mediocre workstation CPU. The FX-8350 is almost 8 years old now (as of October 2020) and should not be considered for any newer builds. If you have a compatible AM3+ motherboard, and can find the FX-8350 for less and $75 USD, then you may consider upgrading to it. Otherwise, stay away from the FX-8350.

This CPU is excellent for people building entry-level Gaming PC's and entry-level Workstations. This CPU is also great for just a basic desktop PC build. However, due to the release of the Ryzen series, this CPU is relatively primitive. There are a lot of these on the used market that you can get for $30-$50.

People may hate on the 8350, but this is my favorite chip of all time. So many memories of this very chip and I can't believe I can still use it in 2021. If your getting into PC gaming and have no money, I suggest considering this guy to start like I did.

Running at 4.6GHZ for more than 2 years now on a Noctua cooler, idles @ 33c, max temp 64c. Will only upgrade if /when it dies or RAM prices are more sensible.

For 2020 standarts, its a poor cpu. Cheapest 4 core cpu's beat fx 8350 to the ground. It uses too much power for very little performance. It's only good if you can find a really cheap fx8350+mobo+16gb ddr3 ram combo.

Why is this chip still such a beast? I'm honestly blown away by how much staying power this old of a system build has had for me. Granted, I've been through three graphics cards, and this last one (gtx 1080 hybrid FTW) is going to transfer into a new build this year, but I really have no need or desire to put this old thing out to pasture, just yet. It'll serve for years to come, most likely, as a starter PC for my youngest child (likely with an RX 480).

I had the AMD FX-8350 model in my previous gaming rig that i built and it lasted me 5 years with no hi-cups, played every game that i ran on it, this was in 2014 when it released, i retired this CPU and got the Ryzen no regrets.

From 4.1 to 5.1 Ghz and 27C. Idle temp / 68-70 heavy load temp, water cooler and 1.7 Cinebench score for under 60 $ is by far the best price/value CPU on the market, at least for me.
